Gold Dust Editing & Book Reviews
Fiction editing – romance, mystery, thriller, suspense, women’s fiction, fantasy, sci-fi
Sprinkle a little Gold Dust on your stories.
A former private investigator, I have a BA in Criminology and an MBA in Accounting. I’ve always been passionate about reading and writing and, after years of working in other industries, decided to finally focus on my dream. I began my journey as a beta reader and quickly graduated to become a book reviewer for Publishers Weekly. I started my own blog on which I would review and promote books and offer writing tips. Editors at major publishing houses took notice and reached out to me on LinkedIn, and Gold Dust Editing was born.
What I can do for you
I can help clients polish their story by focusing on issues such story and character development, pace, flow, head hopping, showing vs. telling, and info dumping, amongst other things. I leave comments with suggestions and provide a detailed letter of the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript and ways to improve. Developmental editing also includes a one-hour phone call to discuss the story and answer questions. There are multiple rounds of editing to prepare the book for publishing. My services also include line editing to tighten sentences, improve dialogue, reduce repetition, and to correct subject-verb agreement, tense, syntax, clarity, and wordiness. I do not offer proofreading services.
