Black Editors & Proofreaders was founded by Tia Ross, a nationally recognized editor, writer, and editorial coach with over 30 years of experience in the publishing industry.

Tia began her editorial career working with professionals in law, finance, and the military, sharpening her skills on high-stakes content where precision mattered most. Since then, she has built a respected legacy as the founder of multiple companies that support writers and editors of color, including WordWiser Ink Editorial Services, Black Writers Collective, Black Editors Network, and Boss Events & Travel.

Her editorial expertise has earned the trust of major publishers such as HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Hachette Book Group, University of North Carolina Press, and Penguin Random House, as well as corporations, law firms, nonprofits, and indie authors around the globe.
